Mathematicians at the University of Utah have found that they can design a range of composite materials from moiré  patterns  created by rotating and stretching one lattice relative to another. Their electrical and other  physical properties  can change—sometimes quite abruptly, depending on whether the resulting moiré patterns are regularly repeating or non-repeating.   Suprem installs new thermoplastic composites manufacturing line Relying on decades of experience,  Suprem  (Yverdon-les-Bains, Switzerland) has installed a new manufacturing line to produce high-quality, high-performance thermoplastic composite materials for automated additive manufacturing (AM). Customized materials in the form of unidirectional (UD) tapes and profiles will be manufactured and used for challenging applications ranging from maritime to space.
