Suprem installs new thermoplastic composites manufacturing line

Relying on decades of experience, Suprem (Yverdon-les-Bains, Switzerland) has installed a new manufacturing line to produce high-quality, high-performance thermoplastic composite materials for automated additive manufacturing (AM).

Customized materials in the form of unidirectional (UD) tapes and profiles will be manufactured and used for challenging applications ranging from maritime to space. Suprem UD tapes can also be wound to manufacture cylindrical parts like pipes or tanks, in addition to one-step in-situ consolidation and overmolding.

Moreover, Suprem says its new continuous fiber-reinforced thermoplastic materials brand, Filaprem, for 3D printing, will also profit from the line installation.

“This new manufacturing line with innovative modern technology will allow Suprem to support existing and new customer projects,” Dr. Anatole Gilliot, Suprem CEO, says. “It will extend our production capacity and secure redundancy while not compromising on the high and constant product quality needed for automated additive manufacturing.”
