Matrix Composite Materials Co. celebrates 25 years
This year Matrix Composite Materials Co. (Bristol, U.K.) celebrates 25 years as a materials supplier in the composites industry. The company, founded in 1993 as Matrix Mouldings by Wiz Deas and Pete Finch, focused purely on supplying materials by October 1997.
Matrix has partnered with Sicomin (Châteauneuf les Martigues, France) since its start, stocking most of the high-performance epoxy resin system company’s large range of laminating, infusion and hot-press epoxy systems. Reportedly, Sicomin was the first epoxy manufacturer to offer a bioresin with its GreenPoxy range back in 2007; now, GreenPoxy biosystems make up the bulk of its standard range.
In 2016, Matrix started working with Armacell (Brampton, Ontario, Canada) and its PET products, and in 2018, Matrix became the sole U.K. distributor of ArmaPET foams, which are produced from 100% post-consumer recycled water bottles. Over the years, Matrix has also added a large range of glass and carbon fiber reinforcement options, and in 2021 became an official Hexcel (Stamford, Conn., U.S.) reinforcements distributor.

The company is still owned and run by directors, and operates out of its own warehouse in Bristol. Matrix’s philosophy is simple — choose a few good suppliers, understand your products technically, hold high levels of stock for next-day delivery and look after your customers.
Matrix Composite Materials is exhibiting at the Advanced Engineering show in November 2022.
